Padang besar: The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, urged the people of Perlis to optimise the facilities of the National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) operating in the state for the advancement of themselves, their families, and the community. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said there are 17 NADIs statewide that play an important role as local community reference hubs, in addition to providing access to various forms of training and information as well as comprehensive guidance.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin encouraged the community to take advantage of these opportunities to build a more digitally literate, competitive, and progressive society. He made these remarks while officiating the Perlis Connect programme at Padang Besar Street. Perlis State Legislative Assembly Speaker Rus'sele Eizan and Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa were also present at the event.
Additional attendees included Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) member Gen (Rtd) Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, MCMC managing director Abdul Karim Fakir Ali, and Bernama Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin highlighted that the Perlis Connect initiative is a manifestation of comprehensive digital inclusion that aims to expand internet access across all societal levels. He praised the firm commitment shown by the Ministry of Communications, the MCMC, Bernama, telecommunications companies, and strategic partners.
The Raja Muda of Perlis stressed that technology is becoming accessible beyond big cities, reaching small towns and villages, thus creating job opportunities and improving the quality of life. He noted that the Perlis Connect initiative symbolizes the success of strategic collaboration aimed at ensuring that all societal layers benefit from digital advancements.
He emphasized the importance of engagement sessions between the public and service providers, briefings on data roaming, and exposure to cybersecurity and e-learning as vital steps toward shaping a digitally literate society. Additionally, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin pointed out that digital transformation should embody values such as trust, ethics, and digital discipline.
The Perlis Connect initiative, organized by MCMC in collaboration with Bernama, aims to educate the public on safe internet usage while also providing a platform for NADI Perlis entrepreneurs to market their products. The event includes pocket talks on bullying issues to support the government's anti-bullying campaign among students.
