Shanghai: The Negeri Sembilan Barisan Nasional (BN) has been urged to respect the objectives behind the formation of the Unity Government to ensure political stability in the state, said Bayan Baru Member of Parliament Sim Tze Tzin.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sim, who is also Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) strategy director, emphasized that the Unity Government at both federal and state levels was established after no single coalition secured a majority in the 15th General Election (GE15). He highlighted that the agreement underlying the Unity Government aims to maintain a stable administration until the end of its term.
Sim expressed his hope that BN Negeri Sembilan would honor this agreement until the term concludes, emphasizing that stability and the wellbeing of the people must be prioritized. Sim also serves as the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry.
Earlier today, all 14 Negeri Sembilan assemblymen from UMNO and BN unanimously withdrew their support for the state government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. This decision was made in light of an ongoing leadership crisis.
Negeri Sembilan UMNO chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias announced that an official notification regarding the withdrawal would be sent to the Speaker and Secretary of the State Legislative Assembly later in the day.
The 2023 state election had resulted in Pakatan Harapan (PH) and BN forming the state government after securing 31 out of 36 seats in the state assembly. Of these, PH won 17 seats, BN 14, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) holds five seats.
