Security Guard Faces Murder Charge in Sentul Street Fight

Kuala lumpur: A security guard has been charged in the Magistrate's Court with the murder of a man during a street fight in Sentul that occurred two months ago.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, K. Nagentherah, 39, appeared before Magistrate M S Arunjothy and acknowledged understanding the charge, though no plea was recorded since the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Nagentherah is accused of murdering K. Kumaran, 44, by the roadside at Taman Intan Baiduri, Sentul, at 9.23 pm on May 25. The charge is framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which prescribes a mandatory death sentence or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane if the death penalty is not imposed.

The court has scheduled September 10 for the next mention of the case to obtain the post-mortem report.
