Selangor: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has expressed his condolences to the family of the Form Four female student who was stabbed to death in an incident at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, near here this morning. He said as a father who also has a daughter, he could not imagine the situation the victim's parents are going through in facing the shocking incident.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin stated that he had contacted Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar, who confirmed that the police were investigating the criminal case, and was informed that the case did not involve racial elements. He said that at the investigation stage, the police would continue to investigate the criminal elements of the case and inform the public of its progress.
Meanwhile, Amirudin mentioned that the state government would work with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Ministry of Education (MOE), and the local community to ensure that the level of security in all schools throughout Selangor would be improved immediately. He stressed that the matter would be a priority in the State Executive Council meeting, with several measures including security efforts and student mental health support to be decided immediately to ensure the safety of all students in schools.
Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Ismail confirmed that a Form Four female student was stabbed to death by a 14-year-old male student in an incident at 9.30 am this morning in the school premises. He said the victim died at the scene while the suspect, who is a student at the same school, was successfully arrested, with the motive for the incident still under investigation.
