Kuala lumpur: Four individuals, including a senior citizen, were rescued after being trapped in a shophouse fire at Taman Sentosa, Klang, this morning, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, reported that the victims, aged between 17 and 81, were trapped due to thick smoke blocking the staircase. The fire originated on the first floor of the three-storey building.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the fire affected about 50 percent of the premises, which measured 20 by 30 square feet. The trapped individuals, consisting of a man, two women, and a teenage girl, were on the third floor and were successfully rescued and evacuated from the building.

Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar added that the fire was controlled by 6.16 a.m., with 14 firefighters and officers dispatched from the Andalas, South Klang, and North Klang fire and rescue stations.
