Strategic Foresight and Intelligence Sharing Highlighted at ASEAN Security Conference

Kuala lumpur: Strategic foresight, timely intelligence, and professional trust are vital ingredients in navigating today's volatile and uncertain security landscape, said Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation (MDIO) director-general Lt Gen Datuk Mohd Razali Alias. He emphasized that the evolving threats facing ASEAN today, such as maritime instability, grey-zone operations, transnational terrorism, and emerging technological disruptions, transcend national borders and institutional silos.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Razali stated that only through coordinated intelligence collaboration, shared situational awareness, and strategic alignment can effective and decisive responses be achieved. He made these remarks during his opening address at the 2nd ASEAN Military Intelligence Community Leaders Conference (AMICLC 2).

The conference theme, 'Sustainable Intelligence Cooperation for an Inclusive ASEAN', emphasizes the bloc's commitment to building a more responsive, transparent, and resilient regional intelligence network. Mohd Razali expressed MDIO's honor in hosting this year's AMICLC, which serves as a platform for exchanging critical ideas and strengthening long-term partnerships among ASEAN military intelligence entities.

Since its inception in Vietnam last year, AMICLC has symbolized a growing awareness of the shared responsibility in addressing regional security threats. Mohd Razali outlined that the conference would feature focused discussions on four core topics central to ASEAN's collective strategic interests, aiming to generate actionable insights while deepening trust, mutual respect, and understanding among the region's military intelligence community.

He urged participants to use this opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to a united regional security posture, one that is proactive, resilient, and prepared to meet future challenges.
