Subang jaya: A seven-year-old Indonesian boy who fell into a river at Persiaran Subang Indah, Subang Jaya, yesterday was found drowned today. The boy's body was discovered by rescuers at 10.59 am, approximately three kilometres from the location where he was initially reported to have fallen.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Ashrul Riezal Asbar confirmed that the victim was identified by his parents at noon. Subsequently, the body was handed over to police for further action. The body was then transported to Serdang Hospital, concluding the search and rescue (SAR) operation which had been ongoing since the previous evening. The operation was officially called off at 12.20 pm.

Today's SAR efforts expanded over more than eight kilometres towards Sri Muda and Sungai Kandis. The operation involved three JBPM boats and nine personnel, in addition to a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and a four-wheel-drive vehicle. JBPM had received the emergency call regarding the incident at 8.06 pm yesterday, prompting the activation of the SAR operation to thoroughly search the area.

The boy reportedly fell into the river at around 6.30 pm while playing with his friends, leading to the tragic sequence of events.
