Tahlil Ceremony Commemorates First Anniversary of Tun Abdullah’s Passing

Kuala lumpur: A Yasin recitation and tahlil ceremony was held at the National Mosque here tonight to mark the first anniversary of the passing of Malaysia's fifth prime minister, the late Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. The gathering was attended by his widow, Tun Jeanne Abdullah, children Tan Sri Kamaluddin and Nori, along with Nori's husband Khairy Jamaluddin, as well as other family members.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ceremony also saw the presence of former foreign minister Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar, National Journalism Laureate Tan Sri Johan Jaafar, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, and hundreds of congregants. The recitation, which began shortly after Maghrib prayers, was led by National Mosque imam Amir Adili Mohd Noor.

Tun Abdullah died at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on April 14 last year at the age of 85.
