Kuala lumpur: The Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (TERAJU) is urging the government to focus on the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35) in the upcoming Budget 2027, emphasizing the importance of allocating adequate funds to support its initiatives.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nik Nazree Nik Abdul Rahman, the senior director of TERAJU's Strategic Services Division, highlighted the necessity of sufficient funding to propel high-impact projects intended to elevate the socio-economic development of the Bumiputera community. He noted that 132 initiatives have been identified, all directed at enhancing the community's economic status and achieving the objectives set for 2030.

Nik Nazree stressed the importance of prioritizing high-impact sectors such as energy transition, which could open new avenues for Bumiputera enterprises. He also mentioned the need to bolster the capacity and growth of these enterprises with support from the capital market, an area that has not been fully explored yet.

The implementation of PuTERA35 is being closely monitored through various platforms, including working committees and the Bumiputera Economic Council, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Nik Nazree reported a 67 percent progress in PuTERA35's implementation but questioned whether these efforts are effectively strengthening Bumiputera enterprises and enhancing their social well-being.

In light of this, TERAJU plans to release a performance report on PuTERA35's implementation by the end of the year to evaluate its progress and achievements over the past two years. Launched on August 19, 2024, PuTERA35 is a comprehensive government initiative designed to empower the Bumiputera economy with 132 initiatives, structured around three pillars and 12 drivers, aiming to increase the community's participation, ownership, and control in the economy, aligning with the MADANI Economy framework.
