Terengganu: The Terengganu Immigration Department (JIM) has detained 13 illegal immigrants, including four children, during an integrated operation across three districts yesterday. Its director, Mohd Yusri Mohd Nor, reported that the detainees comprised eight Thais, four Cambodians, and one Bangladeshi, aged between six and 58 years old.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation was conducted in collaboration with the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) and covered 11 locations. These included reflexology centres, construction sites, restaurants, and private residences. The targeted approach aimed to curb the rising number of illegal immigrants in the region.
Mohd Yusri further stated that two local men, aged 30 and 39, were issued notices to assist in investigations for allegedly harbouring illegal immigrants. All those detained have been sent to the Ajil Immigration Depot for processing. This operation underscores the department's ongoing commitment to addressing immigration issues in the area.
