Malaysia: Uber Cup team captain M Thinaah is optimistic about the team's chances ahead of the 2026 Uber Cup, from April 24 to May 3, in Horsens, Denmark. Even though she is playing without her regular partner Pearly Tan, Thinaah is confident that the team's strength is unaffected as all her teammates are in high spirits and have shown positive development during centralised training in Herning, Denmark.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Thinaah acknowledged the absence of Pearly, noting that both fans and the team had hoped for her participation. Despite this, Thinaah highlighted the importance of teamwork and the inclusion of younger players in the squad. In a video shared by the Badminton Association of Malaysia, she expressed her commitment to supporting her new doubles partner, Chong Jie Yu, who steps in for Pearly at the Uber Cup.
Thinaah observed that Chong Jie Yu is eager and motivated to contribute to the team. The team, she noted, is collectively excited and maintains high spirits during the preparations. The Malaysian Uber Cup squad comprises singles players K Letshanaa, Wong Ling Ching, Siti Zulaikha Azmi, and Goh Jin Wei, along with doubles pairs Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting and Low Zi Yu-Noraqilah Maisarah.
The team is set to compete against Japan, Turkiye, and South Africa in Group B, with hopes of advancing further in the prestigious tournament.
