Kuala terengganu: Treble-winners Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) unveiled five new players for the Malaysian Hockey League's (MHL) 2026 season. Team coach Mohd Harfizi Baharom announced the addition of three local players-former national player Muhammad Firhan Ashari, Alfarico Lance Liau Jr, and Mohammad Harris Iskandar Osman-alongside two international players, Dilraj Singh Gautam Singh from India and Keenan Craig Horne from South Africa.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Coach Baharom emphasized the team's strategy for the upcoming season. "A total of 85 per cent of players are part of the existing team who have proved their capabilities. Combined with the new players, including internationals from South Africa and India, it makes a balanced combination between experience and new energy that can bring the team to a higher level," he stated during the launch of the THT and Terengganu Women's Teams for the 2026 Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) MHL.
The team is in the final stages of preparation to defend their treble win from last year. Coach Baharom expressed confidence in their ability to win the upcoming Charity Shield match against TNB, scheduled for April 11. Despite TNB having numerous national players, the THT team remains undeterred about their chances in the match at the Kuala Terengganu City Council Hockey Stadium.
"More than half of TNB's team are national players, but we won't give up. We will put up stiff competition against the visitors. I want the players to use home advantage to defend the Charity Shield we won last year," he added.
