Seremban: An autopsy on a two-year-old boy who was discovered deceased in a car on Jalan Tunku Hassan revealed no physical injuries or damage to internal organs. Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad confirmed the findings following the procedure conducted at the Forensic Medical Unit of Hospital Rembau.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the nearly five-hour post-mortem commenced at 2.30 pm and also indicated that the child tested negative for COVID-19. The police chief stated, "The cause of death is classified as undetermined for now. Further investigations are ongoing under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001."
The child's 35-year-old mother, who was detained yesterday in connection with the incident, has been released on police bail. Alzafny mentioned that she could be called upon again to assist with the ongoing inquiry if deemed necessary. He emphasized the importance of parental vigilance regarding the whereabouts of their children, especially around vehicles, and advised the public against speculating on the circumstances of the incident.
The tragic event unfolded when the boy's mother, who is employed at a nearby bank, reportedly left him in the vehicle at 8 am. The situation only came to light around 5 pm, after she had completed her workday.
