UniSIRAJ Plans to Launch AI Study Programmes in Alignment with State Policies

Kangar: Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ) aims to introduce new study programmes, including those focused on artificial intelligence (AI), in alignment with the state government's policies over the next five years. This initiative is part of the university's efforts to meet the current global employment demands and produce graduates aligned with the vision of Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who also serves as the university's Chancellor.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UniSIRAJ rector Prof Dr Muhamad Rozaimi Ramle highlighted the university's plan following the UniSIRAJ Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, officiated by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra at Dataran Pelajar on the Kuala Perlis campus. The university, formerly known as Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis (KUIPs), has undergone significant transformation since the Higher Education Department approved its registration as a university.

Muhamad Rozaimi further elaborated that UniSIRAJ currently offers 28 study programmes, including Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of International Business, and Bachelor of Business Administration, alongside Foundations of Islamic Studies and a Diploma in Syariah. The university has witnessed a steady increase in student enrollment, surpassing its target with over 600 students this year compared to the 550 targeted last year.

Despite facing facility constraints, Muhamad Rozaimi emphasized the university's commitment to controlling intake and improving facilities. He also mentioned ongoing campaigns to attract students from Perlis, including initiatives like providing free tables to new students. The response to these efforts has been positive.

Additionally, UniSIRAJ is aiming for at least a three-star ranking in the Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA) as part of its strategy to enhance the institution's academic excellence and reputation.
