Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized today that the Unity Government remains stable and committed to fostering sustainable economic growth and enhancing the welfare of the populace. This assurance comes despite ongoing speculation about the potential resurgence of Muafakat Nasional (MN).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted that all parties within the Unity Government have vowed to concentrate on economic and welfare issues until the 16th General Election (GE16). He downplayed the talks of MN's revival, stating that they have not advanced to a significant level and that he has not received any further details on the matter.
Anwar underscored the importance of maintaining the Unity Government's stability and focus, dismissing concerns about disunity as external issues unrelated to the government's agenda. "As for people having their aspirations and delusions, or issues of disunity, that is their problem. (we) do not interfere in Bersatu's problems. disunity is not an issue for the Unity Government," he remarked after performing Friday prayers at Masjid Jumhuriah.
The Prime Minister's comments follow recent appeals from UMNO and PAS leaders for a revival of MN, amidst political shifts in Perlis involving Bersatu and PAS.
Earlier in the day, Anwar engaged with the community by having lunch at Masakan Minang Azhar, a well-established stall in Taman Dato Harun. Arriving at around 12.45 pm, he was warmly received by stall owners Nor Azizah Che Rose and Azhar Maddin, who have been in business for four decades. Anwar spent time conversing with diners and sampled traditional Minang cuisine, including beef rendang, before proceeding to join the Friday prayer congregation.
