Woman Held Over Death of Newborn Thrown From 10th Floor Flat In JB

Johor bahru: Police have arrested a local woman for allegedly throwing her newborn baby girl from the 10th floor of a flat near here in an incident on May 2.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor acting police chief DCP Hoo Chuan Huat reported that police received a report regarding the discovery of the baby's body at the flat's parking area at about 2.40 pm. The 22-year-old suspect was arrested at noon today in the compound of Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA).

Hoo stated that the arrest was made based on evidence against the suspect, who is believed to have thrown the baby, who was still alive, from the 10th floor, resulting in her death. Checks found that the suspect has no prior criminal record, and several witness statements have been recorded. The investigation paper has been referred to the Johor State Prosecution Director's office.

The case is being investigated under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code. The suspect will be charged at the Johor Bahru Sessions Court tomorrow.
