Kajang:A total of 50,000 hawkers and small traders nationwide are anticipated to convene at Kajang Stadium, Selangor, for the 2026 National Hawkers and Small Traders Day (HPPK 2026) celebration, scheduled from October 30 to November 1.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the president of the Federation of Malaysian Malay Hawkers and Small Traders Associations (GPPPKMM), Datuk Zainal Abidin Abd Majid, stated that this target reflects appreciation for the Prime Minister's support, as evidenced by various assistance and incentives announced in Budget 2027.

Zainal Abidin expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his focus on the development of hawkers and small traders, particularly the Malay community, and the wider trader community. He highlighted that increased allocations, better financing access, and various business support initiatives are expected to enhance the competitiveness and growth of these traders.

He also praised the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (MECD) for its role in supporting the entrepreneur development agenda and serving as a crucial link between the government and small traders. Zainal Abidin emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation to ensure grassroots traders' needs are considered in government policies and programs.

GPPPKMM believes that the success of the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) development agenda should lead to higher incomes, expanded business opportunities, improved access to financing, and a more favorable business environment for hawkers and small traders.
