Ahmad Zahid Emphasizes Boosting Malaysian Civil Defence Force Amidst Climate Challenges

Kuala lumpur: The government will continue to strengthen the capacity, training, and preparedness of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in line with efforts to build a more resilient Malaysia in facing the challenges of climate change and increasingly complex disaster risks.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi highlighted that whenever the country is tested by disasters such as floods, fires, or landslides, civil defence personnel are always among the earliest teams to be deployed to the ground. He emphasized their dedication in working alongside other rescue agencies to ensure the safety and assistance of victims.

'They respond with full dedication, working hand in hand with other rescue agencies to extend assistance and ensure victims are kept safe. Indeed, the dedication and sacrifices of the heroes and heroines of civil defence in safeguarding the safety and welfare of the people are deeply meaningful to the nation,' Ahmad Zahid said in a Facebook post in conjunction with the 95th World Civil Defence Day observance.

Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, expressed his appreciation to all APM personnel who consistently lead in disaster management, rescue operations, and humanitarian assistance. He added, 'May the Malaysian Civil Defence Force continue to remain steadfast, credible and serve as a strong line of defence for the people's safety. Insya-Allah.'

In a separate Facebook post celebrating the 93rd Army Day, Ahmad Zahid conveyed his respect and gratitude to all army personnel for their service and sacrifices in defending the nation's sovereignty. He noted that for over nine decades, the army has been the primary bastion of national security, upholding the spirit of 'Gagah Setia' in protecting the country.

In alignment with this year's theme, 'Kemahuan Untuk Menang: Pemangkin Keperkasaan Tentera Darat' (The Will to Win: Catalyst of Army Prowess), Ahmad Zahid remarked that it illustrates the unwavering determination and commitment to bolster defence preparedness and professionalism amidst current challenges. 'I pray that the Malaysian Army will continue to excel, remain strong and resolute as the nation's shield, preserving peace and stability,' he stated.
