Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Reveals Rise in Critical Illness Claims Among Under-40s

Kuala lumpur: Critical illness is no longer a concern confined strictly to older adults, as new data from Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Life) reveals that nearly half of its critical illness claims involve individuals aged under 40.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Allianz Malaysia Berhad, in a statement, said the new insights showed 49 per cent of its critical illness claims were submitted by policyholders below the age of 40, highlighting an urgent need for younger Malaysians to adopt proactive health measures.

The insurance company said the trend points to a growing necessity for early physical, mental, and financial preparedness among the younger demographic.

In response to these findings, Allianz Life is organising the Allianz Health Festival 2026 on Saturday (Aug 1) at APW Bangsar here, aimed at encouraging early health awareness and empowering Malaysians to take charge of their wellbeing.

Held under the theme 'Discover More Today, Secure What Matters Tomorrow', the one-day event will run from 9 am to 5 pm with free admission for the public.

Allianz Life chief executive officer Giulio Slavich said the festival aims to help Malaysians better understand their health risks and make informed decisions to safeguard their future.

'Many people believe serious illnesses only happen later in life, but the reality is that health risks can emerge much earlier than expected. The Allianz Health Festival is an opportunity for Malaysians to better understand their health, learn from experts and gain practical knowledge that can help them make informed decisions for themselves and their loved ones,' he said in the statement.

Attendees will have access to free basic health screenings and cancer risk factor assessments, expert-led health talks, inspirational sharing sessions by survivors and caregivers, interactive wellness activities, holistic guidance spanning prevention to recovery, and actionable tools for long-term healthy habits.

Allianz Life said the event is expected to benefit young working adults, growing families, and individuals in the sandwich generation who are balancing the needs of both their children and ageing parents.

Members of the public are encouraged to register via the official event portal at https://az.my/health-festival in advance to participate in the festival.
