DAP Needs To Re-evaluate Strategic Direction, Strengthen Party’s Future

Kuala lumpur: DAP must reassess its direction and set a clear strategic path to ensure the continuity of its struggle, said secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook. He said the party's national convention, scheduled to be held in the next two to three months, will serve as a key platform for leaders and members to reflect, deliberate and determine the party's future direction.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Loke emphasized the importance of this moment for the party to think, reflect, and discuss how to continue moving forward and remain strong. He made these remarks at the launch of DAP's 60th anniversary celebration, highlighting the unity of its members at all levels as the party's core strength.

Loke pointed out that despite facing numerous challenges, including many years in opposition, DAP has remained steadfast in its principles throughout its six-decade history. He noted that the party's resilience, even without power and resources in the past, has been crucial to its continued strength.

Loke also underscored the necessity of leadership continuity, advocating for greater opportunities for younger members to step up and contribute to the party's future. He stressed the importance of guiding and providing space for the new generation to carry on the struggle.

Meanwhile, Loke mentioned that Penang, the only state governed by the party, should continue to serve as a model of diversity, justice, and development. He outlined plans to prioritize two major projects over the next five years: the Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project and the expansion of Penang International Airport, both expected to drive growth and ensure the state's continued progress.
