Lorry Driver Dies in Tanker Explosion During Welding Works in Kuala Sawah

Kuala lumpur: A truck driver lost his life while a workshop assistant sustained minor injuries following an explosion of a tanker truck during valve welding at a workshop in Batu 6, Kuala Sawah, Rantau.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the incident occurred earlier today. Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent I Mohd Syazwan Saidy reported that an emergency call was received at 1:23 pm. Upon arrival, the team discovered the 33-year-old driver unconscious. The tanker had been brought to the workshop from Jalan Pantai, Seremban, a day prior for repairs.

Witnesses reported that both victims were atop the tanker truck performing welding when it exploded, launching them approximately three meters into the air. The truck driver was found unconscious with severe head injuries, and his brother, the workshop assistant, was carried to safety while awaiting emergency services.

The Hazmat Special Team from the Seremban 2 Fire and Rescue Station conducted an environmental assessment at the site, confirming that readings had stabilized. The deceased was transported to Rembau Hospital for an autopsy, while the injured assistant received treatment at Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital Seremban. Authorities have handed the case over to the police for further investigation.
