MyRepositori Initiative Enhances Access to Malaysia’s Digital Heritage

Kuala lumpur: The National Unity Ministry (KPN), through the National Library of Malaysia (PNM), is advancing efforts to safeguard national heritage with the development of MyRepositori, a digital repository designed to centralise high-value collections for public access. The initiative underscores the ministry's commitment to preserving, digitising, and making Malaysia's intellectual, historical, and cultural heritage accessible to all sectors of society.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MyRepositori is a strategic national project aimed at barrier-free access to preserved heritage. As of now, the platform boasts over 55,000 digital titles that include National Collections, Special Collections, Malay Manuscript Collections, and Microfilm Collections (newspapers). Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang highlighted the importance of these collections, describing them as a crucial national asset that encapsulates Malaysia's identity, history, and civilisation, which must be preserved for future generations.

The Minister emphasized the significance of access to authentic and quality information in today's digital age, which he sees as essential for building a knowledgeable and competitive society. MyRepositori is positioned as a catalyst for transformation, offering a comprehensive and reliable reference platform for the public. The ministry remains dedicated to enhancing digitisation efforts, ensuring the nation's intellectual heritage stays both relevant and sustainable.
