Kuala lumpur: A total of 128 foreigners were detained during an integrated operation dubbed Ops Mega conducted by the Kelantan Immigration Department at two premises in Kuala Krai and Kota Bharu yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan Immigration Department director Garry Belayong John Siki stated that the operation, which began at 8 am, involved 75 personnel from the National Security Council, Labour Department, National Registration Department, as well as Kelantan Forestry Department and saw 316 individuals inspected.

Garry reported that all 128 foreigners inspected at the Kota Bharu premises were detained on suspicion of committing various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963. No arrests were made at a sawmill in Kuala Krai, where 188 individuals were inspected.

Among those detained, 74 individuals, aged between 12 and 61 and comprising 46 Bangladeshis, 18 Indonesians, six Myanmar nationals, and four Pakistanis, were held under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. Nine others were arrested under Section 15(1)(c) of the same Act.

Garry further elaborated that the arrests under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 involved 50 Bangladeshi men, eight Indonesian men, three Myanmar men, three Nepalese men, and one Pakistani man.

Additionally, Garry mentioned that six Imm.29 Forms (Summons to Witnesses) were issued. He emphasized that the operation aimed to curb illegal immigrant activities, detect violations of pass and permit conditions, and strengthen enforcement of immigration laws.
