Kuala lumpur: With less than a month remaining before the Perlindungan Tenang Voucher (PTV 3.0) programme concludes, the insurance and takaful industry is calling all eligible Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients to redeem their RM30 vouchers before the 31 August 2026 deadline.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the public-private initiative, launched on September 1, 2025, under Budget 2025, aims to ease financial burdens and enhance financial inclusion for lower-income households. However, data indicates that more than 1.9 million vouchers remain unredeemed, prompting industry leaders to call for immediate action.
Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) chief executive officer (CEO) Mark O'Dell commended and expressed deep appreciation to the government and Finance Ministry for championing financial protection for Malaysians. "We commend the government and the Ministry of Finance for their continued efforts to improve access to affordable insurance and takaful protection for Malaysians. With only a few weeks remaining, we urge all eligible STR recipients not to let this opportunity slip away. Redeem your RM30 voucher before 31 August 2026 and take an important step towards securing affordable protection for yourself and your loved ones. Don't wait until the last minute," he said in a statement today.
Echoing the sentiment, Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) CEO Mohd Radzuan Mohamed stated that the PTV 3.0 initiative helps propel Malaysia's protection agenda forward by encouraging greater awareness and uptake of financial protection among Malaysians. "For the Takaful industry, initiatives such as this complement our ongoing efforts to encourage individuals and families to make protection an integral part of their financial planning and be better prepared for life's uncertainties. This contributes towards stronger financial resilience among Malaysian households especially during challenging times," he said.
Meanwhile, Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) CEO Chua Kim Soon highlighted that under the PTV 3.0 programme, five Personal Accident products from PIAM member insurers are available to eligible STR recipients, offering a range of affordable protection options. "Being employed does not necessarily mean we are fully protected from the financial consequences of an accident. An injury can result in medical expenses, time away from work and financial commitments that continue even when an individual is unable to work. Personal Accident protection is designed to provide benefits for accidental death, permanent disablement, and hospital cash allowances, among others, which can complement existing coverage," he said, encouraging all eligible recipients to redeem their voucher and take a proactive step towards protecting themselves and their loved ones.
Eligible STR recipients can redeem their voucher in a few simple steps by first checking their eligibility via the PTV portal at www.myptv.my. Beneficiaries can then explore the available Perlindungan Tenang products at www.mycoverage.my, where participating insurers and takaful operators provide information on product features and benefits, before selecting their preferred option and redeeming the voucher online. Alternatively, recipients may also walk into any branch of participating companies, takaful operators, or authorised agents to process their redemption in person.
