Selangor: Selangor State Legislative Assembly Speaker Lau Weng San announced that there is no need to declare any state seat vacant. This decision comes after a detailed review by his office, which confirmed that no elected representative had breached the conditions necessary to maintain their respective seats.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Speaker Lau was addressing concerns regarding an assemblyman who was rumored to potentially lose his eligibility. After conducting a thorough review, as of last Monday morning, it was determined that there was no such issue, and consequently, no announcement about any assemblyman's status needed to be made. Lau emphasized that the review process was comprehensive, involving all parties and aspects related to the assemblymen.

Previously, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari had indicated that Speaker Lau would summon an assemblyman accused of losing eligibility to confirm the representative's current standing. There was media speculation suggesting a possible by-election in Selangor due to the bankruptcy status of an assemblyman. However, the issue was resolved today when the High Court annulled the Bankruptcy Order against the elected representative.

Court order documents revealed to the media indicated that the assemblyman successfully obtained an annulment of the Bankruptcy Order. This decision came after the High Court approved his application under Section 105 of the Insolvency Act 1967, thus affirming his eligibility to retain his seat.
