Rantau panjang: UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has reminded party leaders and members to remain united and avoid any discord to ensure a big win in the upcoming 16th general election (GE16). He attributed UMNO's loss in the previous general election to sabotage among party members, adding that it was not due to the strength of their rivals.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Asyraf emphasized the need to avoid such internal conflicts in the future, stating, "That's what we want to avoid in the future," during his address at the Rantau Panjang UMNO Division delegates meeting. He highlighted the importance of a strong party machinery and urged members to reinforce their role within the Unity Government.

Addressing claims that certain factions wanted UMNO to exit the Unity Government and contest GE16 independently, Asyraf affirmed that the UMNO supreme council remained steadfast in supporting the Unity Government. He remarked on UMNO's historical stance, noting, "In UMNO's history, we have never been alone in a general election as the country's stability and prosperity would not be achieved if the struggle was done individually."
