Kuala lumpur: Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has been issued a show-cause letter by the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) following actions that suggest he has lost confidence in the party, according to PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the letter was issued in response to Rafizi's claim that leaving the party now would trigger the anti-hopping law. Fuziah explained that the letter falls under Article 9(1)(C) of the PKR Constitution, which deals with membership termination, specifically referencing a member's declaration of leaving the party. She shared these details at a press conference after attending the Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar in Kampung Baru.
Fuziah mentioned that Rafizi has until today to clarify his intentions, particularly his plan to contest the 16th General Election without PKR's endorsement. She noted that the party has not yet received a reply from Rafizi, but he has until midnight to respond.
When questioned about the potential repercussions of Rafizi not replying, Fuziah emphasized that the notice pertains to his membership as Pandan MP. She highlighted that Rafizi's intention to leave the party, if considered official, could lead to significant consequences, possibly resulting in the loss of his membership and his seat as an MP. Consequently, he has been given the opportunity to explain his true intentions.
Rafizi confirmed on Thursday that he had received the PKR show-cause notice concerning his declaration to leave the party.
