Kuala lumpur: WCT Holdings Bhd (WCT) has contributed approximately RM34,000 to upgrade common areas at Buku Jalanan Chow Kit's (BJCK) learning centre in Chow Kit under the second phase of its WCTGives 'Brightening Lives' initiative. The refurbishment focused on enhancing the centre's main entrance, staircase, storeroom, and lighting facilities to improve safety and visibility, optimise storage space, and ensure access routes and emergency exits remain clear. Additionally, two murals were added along the entrance area to create a more engaging environment for the BJCK community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, WCT group managing director Datuk Lee Tuck Fook expressed that the initiative reflects the company's commitment to making education more accessible and inclusive. 'At WCT, we believe that meaningful support begins with understanding the needs of the communities we serve. Through WCTGives 'Brightening Lives' 2.0, we are pleased to continue supporting BJCK by helping to create an environment where children can learn and grow with greater confidence,' he stated.

WCT chief operating officer (Property Development) Chong Wah Hing highlighted the importance of a safe, accessible, and functional environment in supporting children's daily activities and learning experiences. He stated, 'Through 'Brightening Lives' 2.0, we upgraded key common areas at BJCK's learning centre to provide greater comfort and convenience for students, educators, and visitors. We hope these improvements will support BJCK in its continued efforts to nurture and educate the children in its care.'

Meanwhile, BJCK co-founder and Strategic Direction head Siti Rahayu Baharin noted that the upgraded facilities represented more than just physical improvements, reflecting a shared commitment to providing children with a safe and supportive environment. 'Every child deserves a safe and supportive environment in which to learn, grow, and be recognised for their potential. We hope this space continues to inspire hope, confidence, and a sense of belonging among the children and the wider BJCK community,' she expressed.

BJCK, a non-governmental organisation based in Chow Kit, provides educational support and holistic development programmes to more than 150 underserved and marginalised children and youths aged seven to 18. Its learning centre is supported by 18 educators who provide structured learning opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.
