Janda Baik:The Malaysian Immigration Department is addressing concerns about the involvement of foreigners in economic activities in Janda Baik, Bentong. This initiative comes in response to reports highlighting residents' unease.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban stated that enforcement efforts are ongoing. An operation on April 24 led to the detention of 38 individuals from a total of 82 checked across eight locations in the area, all for various offenses.
The department plans to enhance monitoring and intelligence gathering, alongside enforcement operations based on received information and complaints. Foreigners are attracted to the area due to job opportunities, particularly in the tourism sector involving resorts, chalets, and accommodation premises, which can lead to illegal employment and accommodation provision outside of immigration laws.
Zakaria mentioned that actions could be taken against those violating the Immigration Act 1959/63, including Sections 55B and 55E. He also expressed gratitude for the cooperation from local residents and community associations in providing information on suspected illegal activities.
The department remains committed to continuously monitoring developments in Janda Baik and ensuring effective enforcement to address violations of immigration laws.
